What really sets us apart from all of the other Mixed Martial Arts gyms in the Denver area is that we specialize in beginners. After decades of research and development we have found the most user-friendly and non-intimidating way to teach beginners from the ground up no matter what your goals may be.

Meet the Founder

Led by Professor Michael Frison, a Black Belt and 16 year veteran of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a national competitor and an IBJJF No Gi Worlds Gold Medalist, The Training Camp is the premiere Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu academy in Colorado. Michael Frison began training in Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu in 1998 in Seattle, Washington.

He trained Muay Thai with Chris Clarke a Instructor or Kru under Ajarn Chai Sirisute of the Thai Boxing Association of America. Professor has trained under many of the top level Brazilian Jiu-jitsu experts in the world including: Cleber Luciano (A Rickson and Royler Gracie Black Belt), Luis "Limao" Heredia (A Rickson Gracie Black Belt), Laericio Fernandes (A Rubens "Cobrinha" Charles Black Belt) and The Training Camp's Head Professor Andre Galvao (8X World Champion and arguably the best competitor at his weight class).

Being involved in MMA for over 16 years Professor Frison has seen a lot of changes, as this sport continues to grow and evolve he believes so should the art of Muay Thai and Jiu-jitsu. The newest accomplishment for Professor Frison is becoming the very first Affiliate School under Atos Jiu-jitsu and Andre Galvao in Colorado.

“I love my profession and feel grateful and excited to be doing what I love while helping change lives. Fitness has not always been a part of my life, I was not involved in sports as a child, at the age of 14 I found Martial Arts where I earned my first Black Belt at 20 and went on to be a Regional Champion and an Award Winning Instructor.

"I learned strength, humility, perseverance, dedication, and confidence through challenging myself physically and mentally, each day I strive to give each individual the tools necessary to experience the same transformation. Each day has it’s challenges.

"Never give up, never make excuses, never let yourself off easy, never let yourself stop growing, you must constantly push yourself to be better than you ever thought you could be. This is my motto, and the vision I try to impart to all my students and clients each day.”
